Happy Frequency

Privacy

Privacy policy

Effective date: 24 July 2026

This privacy policy applies to the Mexican Train Score Calculator Android app ("the app") and to the Happy Frequency website ("the site"). It explains what data is and is not processed, and your rights.

We have designed the app to keep your data on your device. We do not run accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking of any kind.

1. Data controller

The data controller is:

You can contact us at any time using the details above or via our contact page.

2. Camera permission and photos

The app asks for the camera permission so you can photograph your remaining domino tiles at the end of a round. The permission is requested only when you use the camera feature, not at startup.

Photos are processed entirely on your device. The app analyses the image to detect tiles and count pips, and then computes scores locally. Photos are:

The captured image exists only in memory for the moment it takes to read the tiles, and is discarded afterwards.

3. Game data stored on your device

The app stores the games you create locally on your device using an on-device database. This includes the player names you enter per game and the scores for each round. This information stays on your device.

We do not have access to it. The app has no user accounts and does not sync your games to any server run by us.

Android backup: Because standard Android backup is enabled for the app, your local game data (player names and scores) may be included in the device backup that Android itself may upload to your Google account, according to your device and Google account settings. That backup is controlled by Google and your device settings, not by us. You can control or disable it in your Android backup settings.

4. Feedback form (optional)

The app's About screen includes an optional feedback form. It is only ever sent when you choose to write a message and submit it. If you never use the form, nothing is sent.

When you submit the form, the app sends the following fields over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection:

We use this only to read and respond to your feedback and to reproduce any problem you report. The legal basis is your consent (you choose to send it) and our legitimate interest in providing support and improving the app (Article 6(1)(a) and 6(1)(f) GDPR). Please do not include sensitive personal information in the message.

Processor and international transfer: The form is delivered through Formspree, a form-processing service operated in the United States, which forwards the submission to our support email inbox. This means the data you send is transferred to and processed in the United States. Formspree acts as our processor for that delivery. See Formspree's privacy policy for how they handle data.

Retention: We keep feedback messages in our support email inbox for as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference, then delete them. We do not build any profile from them.

5. The website and its contact form

The Happy Frequency website is a set of static pages. It loads no third-party resources - no external fonts, scripts, images, ads, or trackers - sets no cookies, and runs no analytics. Simply reading the site collects nothing about you. Standard server access logs may be kept by our hosting provider for security and reliability; those are controlled by the host, not used by us to identify you.

The one place the site collects data is the contact form on the home page, and only when you choose to submit it. The form sends the name, email address, and message you type. Like the app's feedback form, it is delivered through Formspree (see section 4 for the processor details and international transfer), and Formspree also logs the sender's IP address as part of handling the submission. We use your message solely to read and answer your inquiry - never for advertising, and it is never sold or shared for unrelated purposes. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

The form uses a hidden anti-spam "honeypot" field and no captcha of any kind. Nothing from Formspree loads while you are reading the site; the form only contacts Formspree at the moment you press send. Retention is as for feedback messages (section 4).

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to request access to, correction of, or erasure of personal data we hold about you, as well as the rights to restrict or object to processing and to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. In practice, the only personal data we may hold is a feedback or contact-form message you chose to send us.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@happyfrequency.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. In Norway this is the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).

Game data and photos are not held by us - game data lives only on your device, so you control it directly by editing or deleting games, or by uninstalling the app.

7. Children

The app is not directed at children and is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and the app contains no features designed to collect data from children.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the effective date at the top and post the new version on this page. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.

9. Contact

Questions about this policy or your data: hello@happyfrequency.app or via our contact page.
